I attended Kate’s Waste free workshop at Omokoroa Community Church, yesterday evening. A sold out event and with good reason. Kate was bountiful with information and totally cleared up a lot of misconceptions around what is Land fill and what really happens when our recycling gets contaminated.
As she said, the first half is all doom and gloom – but there was a lot of light and entertainment as ideas were shared to lessen our impact. There are many small steps we can do, focusing one at a time, to change our habits and get back to living in a less wasteful way. Kate says this isn’t “Alternative” its actually getting back to a more “Normal” life.
I was very impressed with the council and supplier subsidised workshop. I am not usually keen on goodie bags as usually most contents is excess to requirements and I’m just not keen getting – well more stuff. However this was a true delight simply packed with samples to help workshop attendees go home and the very next day start to make a change.
The next workshop is in Waihi Beach Community Centre on Thursday 9th August 6pm to 8:30pm.
And you can book tickets here
