Council Response Below,
“Yes their licence has expired. I am not sure of the exact date. They are unable to renew an expired licence. This is not a council decision and it is outlined in the sale and supply of alcohol act. There has been provision made in emergency legislation introduced over lockdown to only extend reporting and processing times under the act as police and medical officers have been limited in capacity. Also due to newspapers not operating public notification of licences ( a legal requirement) has not been possible.
The team are doing all they can to get these folks application processed with support from external agencies.”

It’s the law, not the Council, and the process was thrown into disarray by Govt lockdown with unforeseen consequences.
Perhaps a follow-up Cyberlink note to explain it was not the Council staff “allowing it to happen” and “ruining” their business but national legislation that was not tweaked to accommodate these issues and Council staff are actually doing all they can to support local businesses?
Licence expired the day after Level 4 was supposed to end (but didn’t) (29 April)
