Max here from SingForJoy / Uke N Sing. It’s been a while since I have been down your way, but Christine Donehue and I have arranged a day of workshopping on Saturday 12th May
The workshops are suitable for ukulele players who are comfortable strumming along to songs with the basic chord sets (eg. C, F, G7/ G, C, D7 / D, G, A7 / Am, E7) and who would like to extend their playing skills with new strums, finger picking patterns, blues patterns etc.
The Rock ‘n Roll workshop will operate at two levels – we’ll introduce some jazzy chords to lift the medley to a new level but there will be easier familiar chords for those who prefer a simpler path. Bring your music stand for workshop 3 (I’ll have some on sale if you don’t have one or you can share).
I’ll bring down good variety of ukes and accessories (straps, tuners etc) for sale, so if you are contemplating buying a new uke (or feel you might be tempted!) bring your wallet.
Katikati Folk Club is very kindly subsidising the prices so these workshops are going to be exceptional value. Here are the details:
1) 10:30 – 12 Fancy strums
2) 12:45 – 2:15 Fingerpicking
3) 2:30 – 4:30 Rock n’ Roll!
When: Saturday 12th May
Where: St Paul’s Presbyterian Church, cnr Mulgan St and SH2, Katikati
Cost: 1) and 2) $15 each, 3) $20.
I’m looking forward to spending a whole day with you, uke’ing happily.
If you can walk, you can dance
If you can talk, you can sing
