The reason many people like living and visiting Omokoroa is because of the lovely walks and views. The Western Bay of Plenty District Council, approximately two years ago informed the village that The Esplanade would remain as green space. Today, May 11, there were council workers measuring up to replace the green of The Esplanade with concrete.
Is this really what the residents of Omokoroa want for their village?
The council is supposed to work for the rate payers not be a dictatorship telling us what we will or will not have. Council would do better to target other things in the village, for example a roundabout onto Highway 2 from Omokoroa Road , parks and reserves to be attached to each new subdivision. It is fabulous that the village is growing but it won’t be the place that we want to live if all the best parts are turned into concrete.
I am asking that you write, phone, text, email the planners at WBOP District Council and complain before we take paradise and put up a parking lot.
