Hi everyone,
The Omokoroa Coastal Challenge is celebrating its 5th year of promoting exercise and healthy lifestyles within the community whilst raising money for Omokoroa and beyond. This years event is Sunday 20th October and more than 50% of the proceeds will be put straight back into our community. Some of the local projects that will benefit are the Community Patrol, the Community Garden, Omokoroa Sea Scouts and Omokoroa Playcentre. The other 50% is being donated to Awhina House which is the new and much needed Womens Shelter in Tauranga which has been set up by Pahoia resident Angela Wallace. Another awesome feature this year is that BaseUp are donating $1000 worth of sports gear to the school who has the most entries (when you sign up a child it will ask you which school they go to). There is a kids dash, 5 and 10km walk or run, and a 15km run. As with every year there will be fantastic goodie bags, heaps of prizes and fun for everyone. Due to the building of the new Sport Pavillion the event will be based at the Omokoroa Domain this year. You can check out all the details and register on the website at www.runrunrun.co.nz and don’t forget to go to the Facebook page and like and follow it to keep up with all the news and details in the lead up. Come on Omokoroa lets see if we can beat last years registration numbers of over 500 and support some fantastic local initiatives that help make our community the wonderful place that it is.
