I received what looked like an official notification from TRADEME confirming my successful purchase of an item – and verification that payment was being made through my credit card number xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx. If this is not my purchase to “click” on the link below. We know where this one is going…… they then want password to my TRADEME account etc. (Not given – smelled a rat).
Just want you to know that this scam is now circulating. Changed password – checked credit card with bank and warned them – reported scam to police and TRADEME who confirmed this was a scam they were trying to deal with.
I just had a phone call from the friendly folks at “Microsoft support” because their servers had been getting lots of messages from my IP to say that my computer had problems and was running slow and they needed to talk me through fixing it. They even had my correct address to verify them/me – a tad spooky.
I was a little “slow on the uptake” so got put through to a supervisor (whose Engrish was at least a little understandable) and we slowly worked through various issues showing me how bad things were (it is a very clever patter and I can see how the unknowing get sucked in.) and then had to type in www dot support dot me and click OK. (He was even listening to the keystrokes!) I, obviously, clicked “cancel” at that point. Then he asked me what was on my screen and I said, “Nothing, I clicked cancel because I wasn’t going to be spammed and scammed by you idiots – I have simply been wasting your time.”
He got very rude at that point and called me all sorts of very rude and unpleasant things, which I told him was not very nice!
So now, apparently, they are going to “crash my computer” and do all manner of nasty things to me.
Hope all is well, Just wondering if you could possibly include the attached poster in your next email out? (See Below)
