We are looking for a cat loving house sitter for 1 week. From Sunday 14th- Sunday 21st April. Prefer single person, will consider a couple. We have a large sunny house in a quiet street in Omokoroa and lovely views. Please contact Tammy 022 046 0364. Must have references.
Are you motivated and organised and keen to help keep this wonderful little community resource alive? We need your help! We need 2-4 VOLUNTEERS to join the committee and help us get things in order. We could possibly look at remuneration for the right person at least on an initial basis.)
We also need shift volunteers to help run the library during open hours. Currently we’re open every Saturday 9.30-11am, but we’d love to be able to extend our hours and open perhaps once or twice during the week so more families can take advantage of our services who can’t normally get to us on the weekend. Would you be available to help us open for additional hours? It’s a great way to meet some of the wonderful families in this community. Low commitment, low involvement.
We’re keen to hear from anyone – no matter what your experience or skills! Mums, dads, grandparents, students, retirees… anyone with time on their hands! We’re sure there’ll be something we can find you to do.
Please email email@example.com or phone Jo on 021 628 467 for more details. We look forward to hearing from you.

Tierra Japanese students – Host Families required.
In Term 3 2019 for two weeks from 21 July our school will be hosting a group of eighteen 11-14 year old students from Japan. We require families or Omokoroa residents (retired couples are fine) who would be interested in hosting one or two of these students for the two weeks. You will be paid for hosting.
Hosts involved in 2017 were very positive about the experience and the opportunity for their family to learn about the Japanese culture.
Please see Vicki or Heather (Ed. at Omokoroa Point School) for an information pack.
If you know of any Omokoroa residents who would be happy to host two Japanese students please let them know about this opportunity.
Registrations of interest need to be made by the end of March.

Omokoroa and Pahoia Sea Scouts meet on Thursday evenings in the shed near the barbecue on Omokoroa Domain.
We have 16 fabulous boys and girls, aged from 10-14. The focus of scouts is on being active, teaching skills for cooperation, self reliance, outdoor activities and community involvement.
We work towards bronze, silver and gold scout awards, with lots of special interest badges.
Because we are sea scouts, we also sail and row and we have kayaks to use – though at the moment, no one qualified to take the scouts out in the kayaks. I am aware that the community has a wealth of knowledge within it.
We would welcome interest from anyone that would like to come and share some of their interest and teach the scouts and leaders a new skill. This could be during one or two evening sessions; at the shed or elsewhere; or could be during a weekend for a longer session.
For example, Rick Peers recently joined us and led a session about fire lighting and different ways to build fires. We all really enjoyed it and it was most helpful for the leaders to have his support and enthusiasm.
We work to a plan for each term and will be planning the spring term at the beginning of October.
During that term, we will try to get out on the water whenever tides and weather permit and to be outside as much as possible.
If you have an indoor activity that you would like to share, we would still love to hear from you, as we like to think ahead to the next year and what we may include.
If you would like more information, or want to talk about an idea, then please get in touch with Jane Miller, Group Leader, at firstname.lastname@example.org
Many thanks. Jane
